31, St James'S Place Sw1

No. 31 is an end of terrace house located on St James's Place in Westminster, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of amber brick and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall, with a basement and a dormered mansard roof.

The west front showcases a stuccoed shallow bow with three windows across the ground and first floors, featuring recessed sashes with glazing bars. The second floor has three square windows, and the building is topped with a parapet that has coping.

On the north front, there is a semicircular arched doorway with a six-panel door and sidelights, topped by a delicately patterned fanlight. Each of the upper floors has a recessed sash window beneath flat gauged arches, aligned with the door. The entrance is complemented by wrought iron area railings with an overthrow lampholder.

Inside, the house features an open well geometrical staircase with a ramped handrail. The first-floor closet includes an inlaid marble chimney piece and a reset statuary marble chimney piece from No. 28.
