Description
No. 10 St James's Place is a terrace house that is part of a row built around 1685 but was rebuilt between 1774 and 1775. The building features brown brick and a slate roof, standing three storeys tall with a dormered mansard. It is three windows wide, with the ground floor slightly advanced from the facade and topped by a stone balustrade at the first floor. There is a semicircular arched doorway on the left with a rusticated arch. The windows have revealed sashes without glazing bars, set under flat gauged arches, and there is a bay window in the centre of the first floor. The parapet has coping. Inside, the house has an open well cut string staircase with a lantern light above, simple plasterwork ceilings, and friezes dating from the 1770s.
