Description
No. 4 St James's Place is a terrace house that is part of a row built around 1685. Originally constructed of brown brick, it was stuccoed in the early 19th century and features a slate roof. The building has four storeys and a dormered mansard, with three windows across the front. There is a square-headed doorway on the right, which includes a rectangular fanlight and a six-panel door. The windows are nearly flush framed sashes without glazing bars and have slightly cambered heads. There are bands between the storeys and a parapet with coping. A cast iron balcony is present on the first floor. The interior of the house is virtually intact, showcasing features such as panelling, a closed string staircase within a panelled compartment, and box cornices.
