Description
No. 29 St James's Place is a terrace house built around 1691-1696, with some early 19th-century alterations. The building features brown brick with a stuccoed ground floor and a slate roof. It has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard, with three windows across the front. There is a square-headed doorway to the left, and the ground floor has recessed sashes, while the first and second floors have flush framed sashes beneath red brick gauged flat arches. A brick plat band runs above the first floor parapet, topped with coping. A geometric pattern cast iron balcony spans the first floor, and there are wrought iron area railings. Inside, part of the original dog leg staircase with turned balusters is still intact.
