Description
No 38 is a terraced house located on Hill Street in Westminster, dating from the mid-18th century and remodelled around 1900. It features dark stock brick with tuck pointing and a slate roof. The building stands five storeys tall, with a basement and a mansard attic, and is four windows wide. A stone cornice adorns the third floor, and there is a canted bay window on the right-hand side. The sash windows have moulded architraves and glazing bars. To the right, there is a projecting stone Ionic porch. Inside, the house includes a semi-circular staircase with a wrought iron balustrade and brass handrail from around 1900, as well as a first-floor suite of rooms decorated in an ornate white and gold "Louis XVI" style from the same period. The building is currently known as the Naval Club.
