Description
The Ship Public House is a building dated 1887, located on New Cavendish Street in the City of Westminster. It is designed in an ornate free Classical style, constructed from red brick and stucco, with a slate roof. The public house stands four storeys tall and is three windows wide, featuring a two-window return to Hanson Street.
The ground floor has a pub front with pink granite pilasters that frame a corner entrance and bar windows, which have shafted jambs and an entablature. The upper floors are adorned with architraved and corniced sash windows; the outer windows are tripartite. Instead of a central window on the first floor, there is a stucco relief panel depicting ships along with the date. The building is topped with a cornice and a crowning balustrade that incorporates two chimney stacks.
