Description
Nos. 262, 264, and 266 on New Chester Road are three houses built between 1896 and 1898 by architect William Owen. The buildings are constructed of brick with a plaster first floor, featuring tile-hung gables adorned with fishscale bands and topped with a hipped tile roof. They are two storeys tall and consist of three bays. The first floor of the first bay juts out on a bracket and post beneath an asymmetrical gable, while the second bay has a gable. A cornice runs along the ground floor. The windows are 4-light leaded casements, with the ground floor windows of the second and third bays featuring gauged-brick cambered arches. The first floor of the third bay includes a flat-topped dormer. The entrances are elliptical-headed with plank doors, except for the entrance to the first bay, which is straight-headed. There are two cross-axial stacks and a lateral stack on the left return, with the entrance located on the right return. The rainwater heads are dated 1896. The rear of the houses is similar in style.
