Description
Nos. 310 and 312 on New Chester Road are a pair of houses built in 1898 by Grayson and Ould. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a plaster first floor with decorative diapering. The houses have a hipped tile roof and are one storey with an attic, consisting of three bays, with the first bay projecting under a gable. There is a cornice at the first floor level.
The windows include leaded casements; the ground floor windows have stone lintels and consist of two and four lights in the first bay, and three lights in the second and third bays. The first floor features paired cross casements with flanking brick flat pilasters in the first bay, while the other bays have three-light gabled half dormers, flat pilasters, and diapered aprons. A round window is located between the second and third bays.
The houses have two cross-axial stacks. The left return has a hipped projection, a lateral stack, and a canopied entrance with a plank door; the right return has a similar entrance. The rear of the houses is similar in style and includes privies.
