Description

This is a barn located to the west of Melling House, dated 1660 as indicated by the datestone inscribed "TB/1660". The barn is constructed of dressed stone with large quoins and features a stone slate roof with coped gables. It has segmental-headed cart entrances on the north and south sides, with the northern entrance having the datestone above it. There are ventilation slots present as well. To the west end, there are 19th-century outbuildings attached on both the north and south sides, along with a 20th-century lean-to shelter on the north side. Inside, the barn has collar and strut trusses with through purlins and some wind braces.
