Description

14 and 16 South Park Road are a pair of Victorian semi-detached houses built of brick with stone dressings, standing three storeys tall. The ground floor features a round-headed doorway with a white brick arch, keystone, fanlight, and a panelled door, with No 16 having a later wooden porch. There is also a wide shallow bay window with a cornice and four round-headed lights. On the first floor, there is a main window above the bay, which has a moulded case and round-arched lights, and a similar but smaller window on the top floor, located under a joint gable that spans both houses. Flanking square towers rise above the doorways, adorned with ornamental string, a round-headed window on the first floor, and triple round-headed lancets on the top floor, capped with a low pyramid roof above the eaves. The rear wings feature bargeboards and pointed arched windows. These houses are part of a loosely scattered group of listed items in South Park Road, North Park Road, Glovers Brow, and Mill Lane, which collectively maintain a village centre character.
