Description
Whitefield House and Pigeon House is a Georgian building originally constructed as a single house but now divided internally. It is made of ashlar stone and features a moulded cornice and a rusticated basement plinth. The structure has two storeys above a basement. At the center, there is a panelled door accessed by six steps, framed by a Tuscan doorcase with an open pediment. On either side of the door, there are 12-paned sash windows with triple keystones, and above, there are three similar sash windows. The building is dated 1703, although an interior datestone indicates 1793. There are lower wings extending from each side, and at the rear, there is a square brick turret that reaches the full height of the house, featuring battlements and dated 1798. Two fireplaces from the house are said to have been removed to a local museum. Whitefield House, Pigeon House, Dovecote, and No. 112 are recognized as a group.
