Description
The outbuilding and pigsties located to the west of Melling House may have originally served as servants' quarters. A datestone above a blocked entrance is inscribed with "TBE/1652". The structure is built from narrow-coursed stone with large quoins and features a stone slate roof, complete with a coped east gable. It has 2-light double-chamfered-mullioned windows that are positioned high on the north, east, and south sides. The east side includes a blocked window that is partly obscured by a low extension. On the north side, there is a blocked entrance with a dated lintel and a cart entrance, which may have been added later. The south side contains later pigsties with slab walls for the pens. Additionally, the roof has been extended to the west over an open-fronted space that has doors at the rear.
