Description

This is a 19th-century canal milestone located approximately 30 metres south-east of Hand Lane Bridge on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The milestone is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape. The left-hand plate is inscribed with 'LEEDS 98 1/4 MILES', while the right-hand plate reads 'L'POOL 29 MILES'.
