Description
The southern lock at Appley Locks on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal is a canal lock that was probably built in 1774 when this section of the canal was opened, following the line of Leigh's Cut on the Douglas Navigation. The chamber of the lock is lined with sandstone ashlar, and there is a footbridge across the western end.
