Description

The eastern lock of a pair on the northern bypass channel of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, known as Appley Locks, is likely from the early 19th century. The lock chamber is lined with sandstone ashlar and features double gates. A footbridge spans the western end of the lock, and there is a spillway on the northern side, also lined with sandstone.
