WRIGHTINGTON LEEDS AND LIVERPOOL CANAL SD 50 NW 10/104 Eastern lock of pair on northern by- pass channel, Appley Locks - GV II

Canal lock. Probably early C19 when the original single lock at Appley was duplicated by a pair. Chamber lined with sandstone ashlar. Double gates. Footbridge across western end. Spillway on northern side lined with sandstone.
