Description

Garnett Lees Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dated 1849 on the left gable wall and renovated in the late 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth, double-fronted plan and a service wing attached to the rear left corner.

It stands two storeys high and features three symmetrical windows. The entrance has a depressed-arched doorway with plain jambs, moulded imposts, and a keystone, leading to a 20th-century panelled door and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. There are two 16-pane sashed windows on each floor, with raised sills and wedge lintels. In the centre of the first floor, there is a very small round-headed window with glazing bars, a raised sill, and a stone surround. The farmhouse has gable chimneys and a datestone on the first floor of the left gable wall inscribed with the initials B/ HE/ 1849, which match those at No. 188.

Attached at right angles to the rear left corner is a single-storey service wing. The front garden is enclosed by a garden wall made of squared sandstone rubble, approximately one metre high, featuring a rounded coping of the same material and a central gateway with round-topped gateposts. This farmhouse forms part of an interesting group at Garnett Lees.
