Description
This is a line of 35 stone fence posts, built in 1785, which divides Ambry Meadows between the River Lostock and Wade Brook. The posts run approximately 100 meters in an east-west direction and are evenly spaced, with the exception of three that are closely grouped at the western end. Each post is a roughly hewn, tapered slab about 1.5 meters high, and each one has two slots for railings, although two of the slots had fallen at the time of the survey. This enclosure was established by agreement to divide common meadows into three parts, and the remaining stones from two original fences were recently consolidated to create a complete line.
