Description

Norris Farmhouse and the attached barn are located on Ulnes Walton Lane and date back to 1757, as indicated by a datestone above the door. The farmhouse is constructed of handmade brick with stone slate roofs and features a two-bay end-baffle-entry plan, an outshut at the rear of the first bay, and stands two storeys high with an attic. It has a two-course band and a doorway at the left end with a large rectangular stone lintel. Above this door, there is a shouldered datestone inscribed with the letter "N" and a heart in the center. The farmhouse has two three-light casement windows on each floor, all dated 1757, with segmental gauged brick heads and gable chimneys. The rear of the farmhouse includes two small two-light casements and a similar opening for the attic in the second bay. The interior is of less interest.

The barn, which is slightly lower than the farmhouse, continues to the right and features a segmental-headed wagon door offset to the left. To the left of this door is a horizontal rectangular window at ground level and a square window above it. To the right, there is a blocked window and a door, both with rectangular stone lintels. The rear of the barn has a reduced wagon doorway and diamond-pattern breathers. Inside, the barn has a roof supported by two collar trusses with curved angle-struts and two pairs of purlins.
