Description
Samlesbury Church of England Primary School, built in 1836, is a single-storey stone building with a slate roof and an octagonal chimney on the left gable. The school has a rectangular layout and features a central gabled porch adorned with finials on the kneelers and apex. There are doors on each side wall of the porch, each with hoodmoulds, and above them are tablets with incised cursive lettering indicating "Boys" on the left and "Girls" on the right. The front wall includes a 2-light mullion window with a hoodmould, and above it is a stone tablet that reads:
"THIS SCHOOL/Was erected by Subsc=/ ription with aid from/the National Society/for instruction accor=/ding - to the principles/of the Church of/ England as now by Law Established/ Anno Domini/1836."
There are two square windows with hoodmoulds on each side of the porch, and one in each gable, which now contain modern top hung casements. Iron railings with spearhead tops and some urn finials run parallel to the front on each side of the porch. This building is a good example of a small National School.
