Description

This is a house, originally dated 1727. It is constructed of coursed sandstone blocks with wood lintels and a red tile roof. The house follows a deep single pile baffle entry plan, with two bays and a gable chimney stack at the right end. A 19th-century single-storey extension has been added to the right. The doorway at the right end features a large rectangular stone lintel, which originally bore the inscription "M W M 1727", though this is now eroded. There are two windows on each floor, all with wooden lintels and modern glazing bars, and a large quoins to the left corner.

Inside, the kitchen and main living area (the first and second bays) are separated by a timber-framed partition with wattle infilling. Matching partitions on the first floor create four rooms; one doorway has a ventilation grill above the lintel. The ceilings feature chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, set on edge. The house was formerly listed as part of a row of six cottages at Roach Bridge, and was incorrectly dated to 1627. The terrace of cottages located behind this building is structurally separate and is not included in the listing.
