Description

Nos. 241 to 247 on Holcombe Road are two pairs of adjoined cottages, likely built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from watershot coursed sandstone and feature stone slate roofs at two levels. Nos. 245 and 247 have ridge chimneys, while the other two cottages have gable chimneys. The cottages have a double-depth plan, with each cottage consisting of one bay. Nos. 241 and 243 are three storeys tall, while Nos. 245 and 247 are two storeys. They are positioned with their backs to the steep slope of the land. The doorways, which have plain surrounds, are offset to the left, and there is one window on each floor for each cottage. All windows are sashed without glazing bars and have plain sills and heads. At the rear, the top floor doors are accessed by a steep path leading up the slope.
