Crabtree Cottage

Crabtree Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century that has been altered over time. It is constructed from pebbledashed rubble and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and four bays, with the fourth bay having been converted from a stable. The windows have rendered double-chamfered surrounds, although the mullions have been removed from the windows in the first bay. The second bay contains one of two lights on the ground floor and one of three lights above, while the third bay has two-light windows, with the upper window possibly being a modern copy. The fourth bay features modern windows that are in keeping with the style, complete with central mullions. There are doors located to the left and between the first and second bays, both of which have rendered surrounds. Inside, the right-hand room has a modern beam that may have replaced a firehood bressumer. The left-hand room includes two chamfered axial beams that are mortised into a cross beam, which runs parallel to and is close to the stone dividing wall. On the first floor, there is a wall made up of large timber-framed panels.
