Description

This is a house, built around 1700 and altered in 1766. It is constructed of watershot sandstone and has a slate roof. The house is arranged with a double-depth plan, and stands two storeys high with an attic, featuring two bays. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within plain heads and moulded jambs. A single-storey gabled porch is situated between the bays and has a moulded doorway with a round arch. A plaque inscribed 'IW 1766' is positioned between the first-floor windows. A left-hand gable chimney is topped with a brick cap. At the rear of the house are original mullioned windows. These include two windows of three lights on the first floor and a stair window with one mullion and three transoms. Inside, a closed-string dog-leg staircase rises over two flights, with turned balusters. A further flight leads to the attic, with splat balusters. Three original doors remain on the first floor.
