Description
Town Head is a house from the early 18th century, built of sandstone ashlar with a slate roof. It has two storeys and features a main facade with five bays, which are flanked by Corinthian pilasters on plinths and topped with a dentilled cornice. The windows are sashed with glazing bars and have architraves. The central window on the first floor is flanked by pilaster strips. The central doorway has a shouldered architrave and a frieze that is carved with an animal head and tendril decoration. This doorway is also flanked by pilaster strips, and console brackets with acanthus decoration support a dentilled cornice and an open segmental pediment. To the left of the main part of the house are two lower bays with chamfered quoins and similar window details. The interior has not been inspected.
