Description

This is a pair of houses, likely dating from the late 17th century and originally built as a single dwelling. They are constructed of sandstone rubble with a slate roof. The houses are two storeys high. Hayhurst Cottage, on the left-hand side, has one bay and mullioned windows with an inner hollow chamfer, outer chamfer, and hoods. These windows have five lights on the ground floor and four lights on the first floor. Hayhurst Farmhouse, to the right, is of three bays. Its windows have plain reveals; those on the first floor have flat lintels with false voussoirs and fluted false keystones. The two outer windows are sash windows, while the central window is blank. The door, located in the right-hand bay, has a plain stone surround. Chimneys are situated between the two houses and on the right-hand gable. Inside Hayhurst Cottage are two chamfered and stopped axial beams. The interior of Hayhurst Farmhouse was not accessible at the time of the survey.
