Description
Newton Hall Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century and mid 19th century. It is constructed of pebbledashed rubble and has a slate roof, rising to two storeys. The earlier section of the house consists of two bays and features rebated and chamfered mullioned windows, with four lights and three lights on the ground floor and three lights and two lights above. To the left, there is a doorway with a chamfered surround and an embattled lintel, with a chimney situated between the bays. The taller 19th-century addition projects forward on the left side. This addition has a band above the ground floor, consists of two bays, and includes modern windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds. There is a door with a plain stone surround and pediment between the bays, with a chimney to the right of the door. Inside, the right-hand room of the 17th-century section has the outline of a shouldered fireplace from the 18th century visible beneath wallpaper, and also features a solid stone quarter-turn stair. The left-hand room in the 17th-century part contains a built-in cupboard with shouldered raised and fielded panels.
