Description

Low Hall and Low Hall Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, altered subsequently. It is constructed of pebbledashed rubble with a slate roof. The main house has two bays, with a further two bays to the right. The windows have plain stone surrounds. A modern timber porch shelters the door in the left-hand bay, and a second similar door is located in the third bay. Chimneys are positioned between bays two and three, and on the gables; the left-hand chimney projects with offsets. Inside the main house, a reconstructed 17th-century staircase with turned balusters is located against the left-hand gable wall, crossing an old blocked fireplace. Chamfered main ceiling joists are exposed, and a built-in court cupboard is inscribed with the initials 'TTA 1613'.
