Description
The Youth Hostel, located on Church Street in Slaidburn, is a house that likely dates from the late 18th century, with some remains from the 17th century and alterations from the 19th century. It features scored render with sandstone dressings and a slate roof, and is two storeys tall with four bays. The windows are 6-pane sashes with rebated and chamfered surrounds, except for the left-hand bay which has plain stone surrounds. The door, located in the third bay, has a chamfered stone surround and is topped with a hood made of two pitched stone slates. There are chimneys on the gables and to the right of the left-hand bay. The left-hand (north) gable includes a first-floor door towards the rear, which has external stone steps shared with the adjoining building; these steps have a mounting block attached to their lower steps.
