Description
Rivendell is a house located on Angate Street in Wolsingham, dating from the late 18th century and raised in the early 19th century. The building is three storeys high and has three bays, constructed from coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and a plinth. It features quoins at the right corner and on the top floor at the left corner. The roof is tiled and from the 20th century, with brick chimneys.
The façade includes a narrow two-storey bay set back on the right side. Access is via two steps leading up to a 20th-century door framed by a plain stone surround. All windows have flat stone lintels, with flat stone sills supporting 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor and in the end bays of the first floor. The central first-floor window consists of fixed lights with an opening transom. On the second floor, there are three windows, with the central one blocked; these have pecked projecting stone sills and 16-pane sashes. The end brick chimneys add to the building's character.
The right end set-back features a segmental stone arch over a 20th-century door, with a fixed light above it.
