Description
The Surgery and mounting block is a house and mounting block dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with an ashlar plinth and dressings, while the right wing features incised stucco. The roofs are covered with Welsh slate; the main roof has stone gable coping and yellow brick chimneys with tall patent-flue pots, and the wing has a red brick chimney. The building is two storeys high with three bays, and there is a lower two-storey, one-bay right wing.
In the second bay, there is a six-panel door with a four-pane overlight set in a plain stone surround. The 16-pane sash windows have plain stone surrounds, and there is a later raised stone surround for a tripartite ground-floor window in the wider third bay, which includes some glazing bars. The right wing features a plain wide ground-floor window under a recessed wood lintel, with a plain sash window above it. The roofs have swept eaves and end chimneys, with the main building's chimney featuring right gable coping on a curved kneeler.
To the right of the door, there is a mounting block consisting of three stone steps.
