Description
No. 3 Church Street is a former shop built around 1840, which was converted into a residential property around 1996. The building is constructed of squared watershot sandstone, featuring projecting rock-faced quoins and a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has three bays.
The windows are adorned with projecting chamfered stone surrounds and hoods. The ground-floor windows include wooden mullions and transoms, while the first-floor windows have glazing bars, with the outer ones also featuring wooden mullions. The central window on the first floor is smaller and has a segmental head. The entrance door has a chamfered stone surround with a triangular head and hood. Paired stone gutter brackets are present, and there are gable stacks.
At the rear, a projecting wing creates an L-plan. The roof here is square on plan and oversails at the south-east corner on timber supports. The rear features a first-floor window with a plain stone surround, a door with a similar surround, and a 17th-century lintel re-set above it, along with an external stone stair leading to a first-floor door.
