Description
This barn, located 13 metres north of Bolton Peel Farmhouse, is a Grade II listed structure. It likely dates from the early 19th century but contains crucks from the 17th century or earlier. The walls are made of sandstone rubble and topped with an asbestos roof. The south-east wall features a wide entrance with plain reveals and a timber lintel, along with shippon doors on both the far left and right, also with plain reveals. At the rear, there is a threshing door with plain reveals. Inside, there are three pairs of crucks, although only their yokes remain. The tie beams, rafters, and purlins have been replaced with modern softwood. The barn is listed primarily for its group value.
