Description
Nos. 8 and 8A on Main Street are late 19th-century houses that may have been converted from earlier buildings. They are constructed of limestone rubble with sandstone dressings and feature a stone slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high.
No. 8, located on the right, has a double sashed window with a plain stone surround and a square mullion on each floor, positioned to the left. To the right, there is another sashed window with a plain stone surround on both floors, with the first-floor window located at the far right above the door. The door features chamfered stone jambs and a re-set shaped lintel, which may date back to the early 18th century.
No. 8A is set back to the left and has a door on the right with a plain stone surround. To the left, there are external stone steps leading to a first-floor doorway, which has a right-hand jamb made of dressed stone. On the first floor to the right, there is a sashed window with a plain stone surround. Both houses have chimneys at their ends, with one located between Nos. 8 and 8A and set back from the ridge of No. 8A. The buildings are listed for their group value only.
