Description

There are two pairs of gate piers with gates at the entrance drive to Read Hall, dating from the 19th century. Made of sandstone and iron, all four piers are of the same height. Two piers flank the driveway and support the main gates, while the other two outer piers support pedestrian gates. Each pier features channel-jointed rustication, with the blocks either vermiculated or displaying other intricate incised decorations, topped with a flat cap above a cornice.
