Description
The gate piers north of Spurstow Lower Hall date from the late 17th century and are associated with a former building on the site. They are made of red sandstone and feature square shapes with bevelled and moulded bases. The east and west faces of the piers are decorated with raised and fielded panels, arranged two high. Each pier has ogee moulded gate stops topped by inverted consoles. The piers also have cavetto moulded overhanging caps and pineapple finials set on small square torus moulded abaci. The wrought iron gates are a later addition and are not of particular interest.
