Description
The Nag's Head is a public house dating from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building features roughcast, stucco, and planted timbers on brick walls, along with one timber-framed wing. It has a red tile roof and consists of one and two storeys, arranged in four bays, including a single-storey, gabled, timber-framed bay.
The entrance is through a modern vertically panelled door, which has false strap hinges, located in a single-storey projecting gabled porch supported by eight square posts. The sides of the porch are made of turned balusters with a top rail, and the apex is adorned with shaped planted timbers. The windows are three-light flush casements with glazing bars. Above the windows, there is a planted bressumer with shaped braces and other planted timbers.
The single-storey eastern wing is constructed with small framing and sits on a stone plinth, featuring angle braces to the bressumer. This wing includes an added square bay with glazing bars on the gable and modern flush casements on the east return. The door to this wing is framed, ledged, and battened.
Inside, the building showcases bevelled beams and exposed joists, with visible timbers in the internal wall of the east wing.
