Description

Ivy Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on Ferrit Oak Lane in Haughton Moss, Haughton. The building is constructed with a brick nogged timber frame and brickwork, covered by a slate roof. It is a single-story cottage with an attic. Originally two window bays, it has a later brick addition to the east. A sandstone plinth is present. The facade features small timber framing and a passing brace to the west gable front corner. A modern door is set within an original heavy oak frame, and is fronted by an added brick porch with a lean-to roof. A second door is located on the east side of the cottage. There are two-light flush casement windows, with those to the upper storey contained within gabled dormers. Inside, exposed oak beams and ceiling joists are visible.
