Description

This barn, located north of Haughton Thorn, dates from the late 17th century. It features a timber frame that is both brick nogged and weather boarded, topped with a thatched roof. The barn has nine panels on the side and six panels on the gable. It is set on a sandstone plinth and includes small framing with passing braces leading to the gable, where the lower two levels of panels are brick nogged and the upper panels and gable apex are weather boarded. The gable is adorned with barge boards. Inside, there is a strutted truss, oak purlins with wind braces, and cleft thatch rafters.
