Description

Haughton Hall is a mansion built in 1891, featuring red brick and pebble dashed walls topped with a red tile roof. The building has an "L" shaped plan and is designed in the English free style. It stands two storeys tall with a five-bay garden front, a single-storey four-bay wing to the east, and a three-storey three-bay service wing to the north.

The garden front includes a stone plinth, pebble dashed walls, three two-storey segmental bays with sash windows, a window in the Venetian style, and a deeply recessed multipanelled door in a stone-dressed opening with a Tudor head. Above the door, there is a sundial featuring three cherubs and the inscription "Time Flies." The west gable is adorned with planted timbers flanking a wide chimney stack.

On the entrance front (north), there are a pair of multipanelled oak doors with an ornamental wrought iron grille over a single glazed panel. The doors are topped with ogee heads and are set within a doorcase supported by consoles that hold up an oak pedimented canopy. To the right of the entrance is a six-light flat-topped bow window, while to the left is a square bay with a lead ogee roof. The entrance bay features a plaque with the initials GCD and GJD, along with a heraldic symbol in the gable apex. The service wing showcases vertical tile hanging and tall Accrington brick chimneys with triangular pilasters.
