Description
Wood Cottages is an early 17th-century cottage that has undergone alterations and additions. It features a plastered timber frame and a thatched roof, standing two storeys tall with four window bays. The north wing creates an "L" shaped plan. The east gable displays very close-set studding, with a rail only to the window head. There are angle braces at the slightly jettied gable apex, which showcases timbers in a chevron style. A modern boarded door is set within an added porch. The replaced mullion windows are fitted with casements that have leaded lattice glazing, with those on the first floor located in gabled half dormers. The walls are primarily rendered brickwork, with only a few timbers exposed. Inside, the cottage features ovolo moulded and bevelled beams, along with exposed joists and purlins that include wind braces.
