Description

The Butlands is a late 17th-century cottage with alterations and additions. It is constructed as a plastered, brick-nogged timber frame with a slate roof. The original part features a single storey and attic, with one window bay, and is adjoined to the west by a large, modern, two-storey, two-bay rendered brick wing. The building has a reconstructed brick plinth, and visible timber framing, much of which has been replaced, with passing braces. A replaced oak board door is present. The windows are replaced metal casements with lead lattice glazing in timber frames; those at the first floor are within a timber-framed dormer, and in the east gable. Internally, timbers are visible within the walls.
