Description

This milestone, likely dating from around 1900, has been moved following road widening. It is made of cast iron and is bolted onto a sandstone support. The structure has a triangular shape at the bottom and a rectangular shape above. The lower section features the inscription 'SKIPTON 14 MILES' on the left side and 'CLITHEROE 4 MILES' on the right side. The upper part has a semi-circular top and is inscribed with 'SKIPTON & CLITHEROE ROAD. SAWLEY'.
