Description
Southport Farmhouse is a house dating from 1720, constructed of rendered rubble with a roof made of tiles that imitate stone slates. The building has two storeys and two bays. The left bay features 4-light double-chamfered mullioned windows, with the ground-floor window having a hood. The right bay contains sashed windows with plain stone surrounds. The door, located between the two bays, has a chamfered surround and an elaborately shaped lintel. Above the door is a plaque inscribed with 'RIBIE 1720'. This lintel and plaque are enclosed by a hood with spiral stops. To the right of the door is a re-set stone featuring three carved designs, which were taken from Sawley Abbey. The house has gable chimneys, with the left (west) chimney projecting and featuring offsets.
