Description
Great House Farmhouse, Great House Cottage, and the flat are a farmhouse and two cottages dating from the 17th century. They are built from coursed rubble and feature a plinth and quoins. The stone slate roof has moulded coping and kneelers, and the buildings have a 'T' shaped plan. The left-hand section is slightly set forward from the main building and has one four-light window and one two-light window on the ground floor. Above these are two two-light windows separated by a brick mullion. There is also one small window and another two-light window at floor level. An unusual 17th-century doorway is located on the return wall, featuring a four-centred chamfered arch. The wall thickness has been reduced, and the wall of the main building is splayed to accommodate the width of the door, which has been converted into a window in 1983. To the right, there is a seven-light window with a king mullion and a five-light window, with a recent porch added between them in 1983. Above these, there are four three-light windows. The left gable has a projecting chimney-breast with setbacks.
