Description

Withnell Fold Farmhouse, dating from 1736, is a two-storey farmhouse with an adjoining dairy and barn. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with quoins and features a slate roof. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan that is almost symmetrical, with gable chimneys, a first-floor band, and gable coping with kneelers. The doorway has a long and short lintel inscribed with "I / E L / 1736". There are two windows on each floor, with three lights to the left and four lights to the right.

At the left end, there is an added dairy that is one bay wide and two storeys high, featuring an altered window on the ground floor and a three-light window above. Continuing to the left is the barn, which shares the same roof and has a datestone indicating it was rebuilt in 1855. The rear of the house includes a three-light window and a single-light stair window.
