Description

This barn, located approximately 20 meters north of Flash Green Farmhouse, is a historic structure that was formerly dated to 1669 on a lintel that has since been removed. It is built from coursed thin sandstone rubble and features quoins, topped with a slate roof that was in the process of being repaired in 1985. The barn consists of four bays and includes a plinth, slit breathers, and a full-height wagon entrance in the second bay, which now has sliding doors. There is also a doorway at the right-hand end with a large rectangular lintel. The masonry to the right of the wagon entrance has been patched where a former doorway existed, and the lintel from this doorway is currently loose and in the possession of the owner of Flash Green Farmhouse. This lintel is lettered in relief with "1669" at the right-hand end of a long L-shaped panel. Inside, the barn features three collar trusses with raked struts and two pairs of purlins. An altered 18th-century cottage attached at the left end is not included in this listing.
