Description

Law House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It likely dates from the late 17th century and was altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble with large quoins and has a stone slate roof. It features two unequal bays and a large rear outshut with a catslide roof.

The house is two storeys high, with the entrance located by a plain doorway at the west end of the outshut. The south front, which faces the garden, has three windows on the ground floor and three above. The windows in the center of the ground floor and at the right-hand end of the first floor were altered in the 19th century, while the other windows are 18th-century, three-light flush-mullioned with sashes in the middle lights. There is a smaller window at the right-hand end of the ground floor that may be a firewindow. Some breaks in the masonry beside the windows indicate that earlier openings may have been altered.

The left gable has one large rectangular 19th-century window on each floor and is partly covered by a car-port roof. The rear of the outshut features a two-stage 19th-century window, and the east end is stepped back with a plain doorway. There is a three-flue chimney stack on the ridge and another chimney at the east gable. The interior has not been inspected but may contain some early features.
