Description
Stump Cross is a stone cross located on the north side of the road at SD 878 300. It is one of five guidestones that once marked the route of the Long Causeway and is probably from the late medieval period. The cross is made of stone and features a large, roughly-hewn upright that is set against a later dry stone wall. The front face of the cross is relatively smooth and has a crude inscription of the word "STUMP" near the bottom.
