Description
Rookery Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 17th century and was refronted in the 18th century, with later alterations. The building is constructed of rubble with roughcast and stone dressings, topped with a slate roof behind a parapet and featuring gable stacks. It has a U-shaped plan and stands two storeys high. The first floor has three windows, with two on each side of a central door. All the windows are 19th-century 12-pane sashes with horns set in plain reveals. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with a fanlight, flanked by pilasters with rosettes and topped with a broken pediment. The farmhouse includes cellars and has a coped north gable end. The rear of the building has two storeys with two windows on the wings, a recessed entry, and a mix of irregular 19th and 20th-century windows, with the north wing dating from the 19th century. Inside, the original layout was a single depth with a through passage. The entrance hall features shutters and a cornice, and the staircase forks to the first floor on both the right and left.
