Description
The barn located to the south-west of Gidlow Hall is a 5-bay structure that may date back to the 16th century, featuring later alterations and additions. It is constructed of brick on a stone base, with a slate roof at the front and a stone slate roof at the rear. The barn includes ventilation slots and cheeked entrances with offsets, as well as barn doors. A later garage door has been inserted at one end, accompanied by renewed brickwork above it. Inside, there are four roof trusses supported by internal buttresses, featuring collar and tie-beam trusses with struts, and an end cross-wall. The adjoining building is a later addition, made of brick with a slate roof, and it has large doors and a projection under a cat-slide roof for a cow house on the left side. The left-hand end of the barn contains a stone fragment with a blocked entrance, which is likely an early feature.
